If you are 18 years old or older, live in the state of Texas, and use kratom or a product containing kratom regularly, you may qualify to take part in a research survey with the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. This study investigates the patterns of use, rationale for use, and kratom products used in Texas.

If you qualify, you’ll first complete an online survey about your kratom use. At the end of the survey, you can choose to send in a small sample of your kratom product for testing. Once your sample is received, your $25 Swift card will be activated to thank you for your time and participation. It is important to note that the survey is confidential.

About this study

Dr. Jenny Wilkerson with the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center School of Pharmacy is the Principal Investigator (PI) conducting this study to fill a gap in research related to kratom use in the state of Texas. Our hope is that this study will allow us to learn more about the patterns of use, rationale for use, and kratom products used in Texas.

Your information will remain confidential to the extent permitted by law.

At the end of the online survey, you will be invited to send a single-dose sample of your kratom product. To receive a $25 Swift card, you must provide your name and address at the end of the survey and submit a single-dose sample of your kratom product for analysis. A sample submission packet will be mailed to the address you provide. This packet will include the materials needed to submit your sample, a pre-paid shipping label, and a gift card that will be activated once your sample is received and confirmed.

If you are not interested in providing a sample, your participation will be complete after the survey is finished. If you request the sample submission packet but do not send in a sample, your gift card will not be activated.
